Upcoming Red Cross Blood Donation

RICH HILL, Mo - Donate blood in Bates County on April 8 from noon until 6pm at Rich Hill Christian Church, 300 E. Walnut (Highway A) in Rich Hill, Mo.

Simply call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental consent in some states), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.

As all of you know, over the past year there have been tremendous changes happening in healthcare. That is why Bates County Memorial Hospital contracted with The Outsource Group (TOG) to do the billing and collection for patients seen at the hospital and its’ Family Care Clinics. Many hospitals and physician practices across the country are following the same trend with these complex changes.

Much like the federal government has problems launching healthcare.gov, hospitals and physician practices are discovering that it is difficult to make the necessary changes in their billing systems. TOG and BCMH have also had our share of problems with the billing systems.

Our biggest problem has been getting statements to patients for services provided at the hospital and clinics. That problem is now fixed. Over the next few days, many of you will receive statements for services, some of which are months old. We ask you to review the statements, call us if you have any questions, and take advantage of our prompt pay discount this month.

Thank you for your understanding as we worked to fix the changes and resolve our billing problems. It is important to remember, although the billing problems may be frustrating, through all of this our physicians and staff continue to provide all of our patients’ high quality and compassionate care.



 

City Of Butler’s Notice Of Flushing Hydrants

The City of Butler will be flushing hydrants in all areas South of Ohio Street starting April 2nd, and April 3rd, 2014 and April 9th, and April 10th, 2014.

Flushing hydrants are a routine maintenance activity of the Water Distribution Department and Fire Department.  This work will occur mainly during the late evening and overnight hours for the convenience of our customers and will be primarily Wednesdays and Thursdays.  This work should take approximately two weeks.

The residents in this area may experience some rusty water and should exercise caution when washing white fabrics.  If you notice any staining of white fabrics, do not dry the material but repeat the wash cycle.  If you experience stained fabrics, contact the City office at 679-4182 during normal business hours or the Butler Police Department at 679-6131 after hours and on weekends and we can provide you with bottles of stain remover.

Rich Hill High School Alumni

The Rich Hill High School Alumni Banquet will be held on Saturday, May 24^th in the Rich Hill High School Auditorium beginning at 6:30 p.m.  Tickets for the meal will be $12.50 and alumni dues are $5.00.

Deadline to make reservations is Saturday, May 17th.  These reservations are very important so they can plan the right amount of food.  To purchase a ticket call Beverly at 417-395-4288 or Bill at 417-395-2888 (both these numbers have answering machines and your call will be returned) or buy them at the Security Bank in Rich Hill or Butler.

Garden of Memories is this year’s theme this year and the alumni committee is asny any alumni that have pictures of any classmates at school to would send those pictures by e-mail to dbccpreacher@klmtel.net or mail to Beverly Sullins, 6807 S E Market Street, Rockville, MO 64780.  Pictures will be returned.

Next planning meeting will be on Thursday April 17^th at 7pm at the Double Branch Church in the office.

West Central Warriors Need Sponsors

The West Central Warriors, now in their fourth year, is a non-profit eight man semi-pro football team that is based in Butler.  Opening day will be on Saturday, March 29^th at the Rotary Field in Butler.

The Warriors are in need of sponsors to help support the team throughout the season.  All sponsorships will have advertising on the team website, announced at all games, receive passes for all home games, number of tickets depending on the level of sponsorship.  Sponsors will also have banners displayed as well if you are a $1,000 sponsor you will receive free front parking passes and t-shirts.

Dinner / Theatre at the Hume High School

The Hume High School will be performing a Dinner/Theatre with two live performances on Saturday, March 29^th at 6:00pm and Sunday, March 30^th at 1:00pm in the Hume High School Multi-Purpose Room.  You will be able to dine on Smoked Pork Loin, Baked Potatoes, Green Beans, Salad, Garlic Bread and Cheesecake by watching “The Murder Mystery at the Murder Mystery” by Brian D. Taylor.

Cast members include:  Lacie Gooch, Kaitlee Metcalf, Can Crawford, Billy Thompson, Kelsie Wikoff, Madison Cannon, Sam Reno, Megan Sutcliffe, Brooke Best, Jesse Trelease, Brhett Mumma, Ethan Spencer, Michala Lantsberger, Brianna Austin, Karlee Metcalf.  The cast is under the direction of Jaleana Thompson.  Stage Crew Members are Hope Yarick, Emily Ward, Tommy Whitten and Hanna Cannon.  Proceeds will benefit the Hume English Department and the Hume After-Prom.   Tickets are on sale till March 25^th for $12.00.

Structure Fire in Butler

On Saturday, March 22^nd at approximately 12:07 P.M., the Butler Fire Department, along with automatic mutual aid from Adrian Fire Dept., were dispatched to a report of a structure fire at 304 E. Ft. Scott in Butler. While enroute, the incident was upgraded to a report of two structures involved.

On arrival, heavy fire was found in an attached carport area on the east side of a single story, wood frame residence, with obvious fire extension to the interior.

Fire was also found on the exterior wall surface of a second single story, wood frame residence at 306 E. Ft. Scott.

The structure at 304 E. Ft. Scott was occupied and sustained considerable fire and smoke damage throughout the structure.

 

The structure at 306 E. Ft. Scott was unoccupied and sustained moderate fire and heat damage to the west exterior wall.

The incident was declared under control at approximately 12:32 P.M., with the last units leaving the scene at approximately 2:03 P.M.

There were no injuries.

While on the scene, units from Adrian responded to a report of a natural cover fire in the Butler district south of Passaic and west of I-49. This incident was a controlled burn.

Butler units responded at approximately 3:06 P.M. to a report of a natural cover fire out of control east of the city limits on Rt. H.  On arrival, approximately 2 acres was burning, which was extinguished without incident. Units were on the scene just under an hour. There was no property damage.

Bates County Sheriff’s Office Operation Spring Cleaning

On March 20^th, The CNET Drug Taskforce and the Bates County Sheriff’s Office concluded a several month long narcotics investigation.  Extra officers had been brought in to serve arrest warrants on suspects from the investigation.  Over the last few months several arrest warrants were handed down and served on suspects connected to drug activity.

On 2/13/14, Amber R Jefferies was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

 

 

On 2/15/14, Dewayne E Boehm was arrested after a pursuit from Kansas ended in Amsterdam.  Boehm was served an arrest warrant for Distribution of a Controlled substance.

 

 

On 2/28/14, Justin R Hammer was arrested on an arrest warrant for Distribution of a Controlled substance.

 

 



On 2/28/14, Ramsey Foste  was arrested on an arrest warrant for Distribution of a Controlled substance.
