BCSD Arrests Montrose Felon

BATES COUNTY - On 6/25/13, Bennett R Ivlow W/M 4/23/80 a convicted felon from Montrose Missouri, was arrested by the Bates County Sheriff’s Office and has been charged with 4 Counts of Assault 2nd Degree, 2 Counts of Armed Criminal Action and 2 Counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the 1st Degree. Ivlow’s bond was set by Judge Hopkins at $80,000 cash only.

The charges come from an incident on 6/25/2013. Bennet’s ex-girlfriend, Ashley Walker of Belton went to Bennet’s residence in Montrose with Bennet’s sister, Marna Ivlow, to pick up their two minor children.

Walker left the residence with the two children and was driving back toward Butler on H Highway when Bennett and his father, Denver Ivlow W/M 9/15/44 (69), began chasing them in a vehicle.

Denver passed the vehicle with Walker and the children and forced it to stop in the middle of the roadway. At that point Bennett exited his father’s vehicle and fired one round from a .45 caliber handgun.

The bullet entered the windshield just above the wipers and stopped in the dash of the vehicle. Bennett’s sister Marna, the driver of the Walker vehicle, sped off around Denver’s vehicle continuing toward Butler. Denver continued to chase the Walker vehicle leaving his son Bennett along the roadway.

Denver again passed the Walker vehicle and came to a stop in the middle of the roadway forcing the Walker vehicle to stop once again. Denver then put his vehicle in reverse and rammed the front of the Walker vehicle.

The Walker vehicle was able to drive around Denver’s vehicle again and continued on into the Butler area. The two victims flagged down a Deputy at a gas station in Butler and reported the incident to him.

Denver and Bennett returned home to Montrose and called the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and attempted to report the two children, ages 3 and 4 as victims of a kidnapping.

Members of the Bates County Sheriff’s Office, Henry County Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the residence of the Ivlow’s. Both Ivlows were brought to the Bates County Sheriff’s Office to complete the investigation.

Additional charges are being reviewed by the Bates County Prosecutor on both subjects.
