BATES COUNTY, Mo – Back for a fourth year, America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education help farmers positively impact their communities and support local school districts. America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education offers farmers the opportunity to nominate rural public school districts to compete for a merit-based grant of up to $25,000. Farmers who live in an eligible county can nominate their local public school district from January 1 – April 1.
After a school district receives its first nomination, the Monsanto Fund will notify them and encourage them to design a project for the grant that enhances math and/or science education in their district. School districts are responsible for submitting a grant application, which is due by April 15, 2015.
Once all of the school district applications are submitted, a panel of math and science teachers from ineligible counties reviews each application and select finalists. An advisory council, composed of farmer-leaders with an interest in agriculture and education, then review and select the winning grant applications from a pool of finalists. Grant applications will be judged based on the merit of the application, need and
