BUTLER, Mo – From five, to ten, to thirty! The Community Cafe guest numbers are growing as more and more people learn of this opportunity to share in a good meal and visit with others in a cool, comfortable atmosphere.
Beginning June 2, the Community Cafe opened its doors to the people of Butler to share a meal and a smile. On Tuesday evenings, the meals begin at 5:30 p.m. sharp, and the serving ends at 6:00 p.m. The location of the meals rotates between the following churches in this order each month: First Tuesday: First Baptist Church; Second Tuesday: Immanuel Baptist Church; Third Tuesday: Christian Church; Fourth Tuesday: the Church of the Nazarene. Fifth Tuesday: The Community of Christ. The free dinner is provided by local groups, churches, and businesses in Butler.
If you, your organization or workplace would like to donate meals, either on a single-time basis or regularly (such as once a month, once every three-six months, etc.), please contact Becky Clift at 660-227-9477.The meal should consist of a main dish, a side dish or fruit and dessert. Paper goods and iced tea will be provided by the hosting churches. Four to six helpers will be needed to serve the food and wait tables.
It is recommended to plan a meal to serve 50 initially. It may be necessary to adjust the amount prepared as the popularity of the cafe grows. It is recommended that food be prepared in 9×13” pans to assure they will fit in the church’s ovens. The food will need to be at the church by 4:30 p.m.
Donations of food from markets, shops and restaurants will be welcome. Monetary contributions will also be accepted.
Come and enjoy the fellowship at the Community Cafe!
