Suspicious Person Call Leads to Drug Arrest on Tuesday Afternoon

According to Henry County Sheriff Kent Oberkrom, shortly before 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, Deputy Charles Wilcox was dispatched to the 100 block of Taylor Street, Windsor, regarding a suspicious person. The reporting party stated that a male subject had come to their residence on a bicycle and was asking to speak with a person who did not reside at their address, because he had given them money to buy him something to “smoke”. Upon Deputy Wilcox’s arrival, he located the reported suspicious person in the backyard of the residence. Deputy Wilcox contacted the male subject, asking for his identification. During the course of the investigation at the scene, it was learned that the male subject had attempted to sell prescription medications to the reporting party, which were then located in the male subject’s front pocket. The prescription medications were Hydrocodone, a controlled substance, and a generic form of Zoloft, neither of which belonged to the subject. Arrested on a 24-hour investigative hold for possession of a controlled substance was Rodney L. Bass, age 49, of Windsor.

On Wednesday, April 23, Sgt. Mike Nelson prepared a probable cause statement, which resulted in information being filed with the Associate Circuit Court by Prosecuting Attorney Richard Shields. Subsequently, a warrant was issued by Judge Wayne Strothmann, charging Rodney Bass with the felonies of possession with the intent to distribute a controlled substance and violation of pharmacy laws by a non-licensed person.
