On April 26th, the Bates County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint from a subject about a vehicle being left in the roadway in the area of 6002 and 5002. The reporting party stated that it appeared to have some fresh damage to the vehicle. Before Deputies could arrive to check the vehicle out dispatch received a call from another reporting party located at 5773 NW CR 4721 stating that there was a subject attempting to steal one of his vehicles. The reporting party stated he confronted the suspect and he fled westbound from his residence in the field.
Deputies arrived on scene and began to search for the suspect. K9 units arrived and announced that the K9 was going to be released. Upon the announcement of the K9 the suspect began to yell to the Deputies his location. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
Charges are being reviewed by the Bates County Prosecutor.
