On Thursday, December 18 at approximately 5:18 P.M., the Butler Fire Department was dispatched to County Road 1502 northwest of Butler for a report of a structure fire.
On arrival, a large body of fire was encountered on the second floor of a 2 1/2 story, wood frame residential structure.
The fire was declared under control at approximately 7:03 P.M.. The structure sustained heavy fire damage to the second floor and attic area, with heat, smoke, and water damage throughout.
The last units left the scene at approximately 9:15 P.M.
Adrian Fire Department responded under automatic aid, and Rich Hill Fire Department responded to the Butler station for coverage. Bates County EMS provided medical standby.
There were no injuries. Cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
