BATES COUNTY, Mo – On 2/5/15 the Sheriff’s Office was contacted by multiple people in reference to several subjects going door to door selling items in rural Bates County. The items ranged from soap, air filters or rainbow vacuums. After repeated concerns were raised, the Sheriff’s Office called extra deputies in to attempt to locate and identify these subjects.

Further fears were magnified by several Facebook post of people being sought by Johnson County Sheriff’s Office for an alleged burglary incident on 2/3/15. In that incident Johnson County Sheriff’s Office made contact with those subjects and failed to identify any crimes to have been committed.

The truck that was being sought in rural Bates County was registered out of an address in Pleasant Hill and Pleasant Hill Police department advises that vehicle is at its residence now.

At this point the Sheriff’s Office has failed to identify any crimes committed in this incident and have not connected these subjects to any crimes in any other county. The vehicle is no longer being sought by the Sheriff’s Office.
