BATES COUNTY, Mo – Everyone still has time to donate to the “Save Our Steinway” campaign. To date over $18,000 has been donated to help restore the 1877 Steinway donated to the Bates County Museum. Approximately $50,000 is needed to complete the restoration.
A fund raising event was held on Sunday, November 16th as Peggy Buhr, Museum Director welcomed everyone who attended the event at the Butler Presbyterian Church to hear Mr. Blair Penny of Schmitt Music of Overland Park, Kansas recital on the Butler Presbyterian Church Steinway.
The afternoon program concluded with a drawing for an award winning DVD, “Note by Note,” that follows the year-long journey in the creation of a new Steinway. Elizabeth Ogg, Bates County Economic Development Director and concert pianist, was the lucky winner.
If you are interested in becoming involved in this project you may contact Peggy Buhr at the Museum by calling 660-679-0134.
