BATES COUNTY, Mo In the tradition of giving back to the community started by Judge John O’Bannon, Judge Debra Hopkins and her family continues this holiday tradition when they come together on Thanksgiving Day and prepare a Thanksgiving Feast with all the trimmings at the Butler Senior Center.
Many times the elderly are alone on Thanksgiving or not able to cook for themselves and this is an opportunity for a great meal and people to share it with.
Judge Hopkins and her family prepare the meal but if you would to contribute towards this meal they are in need of deserts and pies. According to Judge Hopkins, “Can you ever have too many desserts?” If you would like to contribute this year with dessert, take them to the Butler Senior Center either on Wednesday or Thursday morning.
Meals will also be delivered to Butler, Adrian and Rich Hill to those individuals that are currently on the list to have meals delivered to them. If you are not on this list, but need one delivered, then call the Butler Senior Center at 660-679-5830 and let them know you would like to have Thanksgiving lunch delivered to you.
A big thank you to Judge Hopkins and her family for sharing their Thanksgiving holiday by cooking for others, it is a job well done.
