Growth and Opportunities for District 126

JEFFERSON CITY, MO— The Missouri House of Representatives began the Second Regular Session of the 97th General Assembly with a flurry of activity. Last week I wrote of House Speaker Tim Jones’s positive outline of the “4 G’s” plan for Missouri:  Growth and Opportunities, Guaranteeing access to a great education, Generating reliable energy and infrastructure, and Guarding and protecting Missouri Values.

This week I would like to focus on the topic of “Growth and Opportunities” for District 126 (Vernon and Bates counties).  The legislative year will unfold with various initiatives by the House, Senate, and Governor to retain, maintain, and expand businesses in Missouri and I will strive to keep you updated as bills are addressed.

For the citizens of District 126, I recognize that this is an important issue.  Not only on the state level, but also on local levels, it is beneficial for businesses to succeed, thrive, and grow to ensure the stability of our communities.  With that theme in mind, I continue to encourage all citizens in District 126 to “shop local” in terms of small and large purchases.  From gift certificates to area businesses to groceries to larger items, purchasing within our district supports business stability, community services, and school funding.

The 2014 legislature will be working on opportunities for Missouri growth and I am interested in hearing your thoughts and concerns on related issues for our district and state.  Please contact me, or my legislative assistant, Beth Rohrbach, at the Missouri House of Representatives at 573-751-5388 or e-mail me at Randy.Pike@house.mo.gov.
