Troop A to Conduct DWI Checkpoint

SMITHVILLE LAKE - Captain Robert L. Powell, commanding officer of Troop A, Lee’s Summit, announces that a sobriety checkpoint will be conducted on Smithville Lake starting on July 16th and continuing through the end of July.

The checkpoint consists of troopers stopping watercraft at a set location on the lake and testing those who have been drinking.

The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket.
