BUTLER - Neither heat nor rain stopped the 740 participants in the 2013 Bates County Memorial Hospital Health Fair held on July 9th & 10th in the Education Center at BCMH.
Participants had the opportunity to have free blood test screenings including lipid profile, fasting blood glucose, thyroid (TSH) screenings, Complete Blood Count (CBC) and PSA (prostate cancer).
Other wellness screenings provided were blood pressure, spirometry, pulse oximetry, and carpal tunnel screening.
Wellness booths were provided by Arthritis Foundation, American Cancer Society, LifeFlight Eagle Helicopter, Midwest Transplant Organ Donation, Research Medical Center for Telemed, Stroke and Injury Prevention, Advanced Directives and BCMH Support Groups.
This community service represents a savings to each participant of over $639, totaling over $470,000 in laboratory screenings alone.
