Home Invasion In Bates County

On 7/18/13, the Bates County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the area of CR2002 and CR9001 in reference to a home invasion and attempted rape.

The female caller stated that she was in the shower when she heard someone tell her to get out of the shower. Thinking that it was her boyfriend she exited the shower to find an unknown male dressed in blue jeans and black shirt, black gloves with a black ski mask on. She reported that he threw her on the bed and attempted to rape her.

The female was able to call for her dog and it came into the room. The dog was able to distract the male allowing the victim to get shotgun. The male fled out the back door in an unknown direction. The female victim then called her boyfriend who then called the Sheriff’s Office. No signs of forced entry were found at the house.

The male described as a white male 6 foot tall, with fairly small build, approximate weight is 160lbs. No vehicle information can be provided.

The victim was taken by family to seek medical treatment.

K9 was called to the scene and no scent was able to be located. Area canvasses to notify the neighbors are being performed and will be conducted through the night.
