BUTLER, Mo – If you are a dog or cat owner within the city limits of Butler, your animal tags need to either be purchased for the first time for a new pet owner; or renew your animal tags and this means both dogs and cats.
Butler’s city code states “no animal shall be permitted within the city unless the owner thereof shall annually cause such animal shall be licensed as provided in this section, which license shall be carried on the collar of such animal. The license applies to both cats (felines) and dogs (canines), hereafter referred to as animals.”
Animal licenses are purchased at the Butler City Hall and the fee is $4 for spayed female or neutered male and $8 for non-spayed females and non-neutered males.
Owners must bring in a current proof of rabies vaccination from a qualified veterinarian showing that your animal has been vaccinated and that all other necessary immunizations are current for your animal to receive your license.
The license is due and payable beginning July 1st and is good for one year, ending on June 30th and delinquent as of August 1st.
If your animal if found without a license and tag the animal will be taken to the city animal pound located at Sages Animal Clinic and a $45 impound fee must be paid to the City of Butler before your animal will be released to you.
Refusal to purchase the mandatory animal licenses could end up in Court with additional fines. Remember you have the month of July to purchase your animal licenses.
