When Thanks Isn’t Enough

As the last stock trailer pulls away from the Bates County Fairgrounds and the Youth Building is cleared, it marks the end of this year’s Bates County Fair.

Many times arm chair quarterbacks want to let everyone know how “they” would have done things differently if they were in charge, but no one takes the time to thank those men, women and children that put their lives on hold the week of the fair.

If “it takes a village to raise a child” then what does it take to put on a week-long county fair? It takes dedication and perseverance and a year of preparation.

FM92 wants to take a moment and thank the individuals that made this year’s fair a success.

President: Jeff Taylor

Vice-President: Kermit Kauffman

Secretary: Linda Mareth

Treasurer: Renee Hendrix

Board members: Kallie Dains, Brad Jennings, Scott Long, Todd Madison, Matt Shannon, Theresa Shine, Chris Rotert, Brian Welliver and Gerrold Steucks.

I want to personally thank the wonderful staff in the Fair Office: Lee Taylor, Brenda Doody, Linda Mareth and Renee Hendrix.

Thanks to the Fair Queen and Princess Candidates that are out weeks in advance of the Fair selling tickets and fair shares, what a great job they did.

Thanks to Alan Mundey, Bates County 4-H Youth Specialist who coordinates all the 4-H exhibits.

Thanks to the many sponsors of various events for their support year after year.

Thanks to the official veterinarians – Bates County Veterinary Clinic, Dr. Chris Sage Animal Clinic, Butler Animal Clinic and the Rolling Meadows Clinic. And thanks to each and every person that contributed anything to this year’s fair.

Bates County has many things to be proud of and a major one is the Bates County Fair.

Thank you for a job well done.

Marla Kash, fm92news
