Farmers, Ranchers and Rural Small Businesses Can Cut Energy Costs

COLUMBIA, MO, January 6, 2015 – Missouri Rural Development has announced application deadlines for the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP). The announcement follows the publication of a Notice of Solicitation of Applications (NOSA) and Fiscal Year 2015 REAP Final Rule in the Federal Register on December 29, 2014. REAP provides financial assistance to rural small businesses and agricultural producers for the purchase of renewable energy systems and energy efficiency improvements.

Three (3) application deadlines were established in the NOSA. The deadline for Energy Audit and Renewable Energy Development Assistance grant applications (eligible to universities and colleges, local or state governments and utilities) is February 12, 2015. Agricultural producers and rural small businesses are eligible to apply for renewable energy system and energy efficiency grants for up to 25% of the eligible project cost.

The deadlines for renewable energy systems and energy efficiency improvements grants are April 30, 2015 and June 30, 2015. Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis following the application deadlines, until available program funds are exhausted. Guaranteed loan applications will be reviewed on a monthly basis.

Missouri has $1.8 million in grant funding available for renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. For information on REAP contact (573) 876-9321 or email nathan.tutt@mo.usda.gov.
