Farming Documentary, Cooking Show

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Jan. 26, 2015) – Two exciting, new attractions will be featured at the 2015 Western Farm Show, Feb. 20-22, at the American Royal Complex in Kansas City, further enhancing the show’s broad appeal to farming and ranching families: Farmland, a documentary about the care and dedication that goes into producing America’s food supply, and a cooking show conducted by Taste of Home magazine.

MFA Incorporated, the Western Farm Show’s primary sponsor, is presenting Farmland at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, and at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, in the American Royal’s Wagstaff Theater. The documentary, produced by the U.S. Farmers and Ranchers Alliance, follows the daily lives of six young farmers, capturing their passion, joys and challenges as they help produce the nation’s bountiful food supply.

The Taste of Home Cooking School, sponsored by American Family Insurance, also a sponsor of the Western Farm Show, is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, in the Wagstaff Theater. An entertaining, step-by-step audience participation program, the show will be presented by professionally trained culinary specialists demonstrating recipes, cooking techniques, practical kitchen tips and simple plating ideas. Door prizes will include a microwave oven and three picnic baskets, and all cooking show attendees will receive a goody bag filled with Taste of Home magazines and kitchen gadgets.

Both the Farmland documentary and the cooking show are included in the Western Farm Show admission, which is $8 for adults and free for children 12 and under. Free tickets to the cooking show will be available at American Family Insurance’s booth.

Now in its 54th season, the 2015 Western Farm Show will also feature over 400,000 square feet of the latest farm equipment and other agricultural products, a Championship Tractor Pull (separate admission required), Low Stress Livestock Handling Demonstration, Health and Safety Roundup, Family Living Center and FFA “Border War” Food Drive.

The Western Farm Show is owned and managed by the Western Equipment Dealers Association, formerly the SouthWestern Association.
