Man Arrested for Stealing Mail

VERNON COUNTY, Mo – A Nevada resident was arrested Friday afternoon by Detectives with the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office after a warrant was issued for felony stealing involving the theft of mail.


According to a press release from the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, deputy’s recovered a vehicle that was stolen from Nevada and found mail they believed to be stolen along with it.


The mail is believed to have been stolen from nearly 25 victims in the county, most of whom did not even know they had any mail missing until a detective knocked on their door and returned it. With the conclusion of the mail theft case, a warrant has been issued for the theft of mail along with a warrant for the theft of a vehicle on a case worked by the Nevada Police Department. Detectives from both agencies worked together on the case.


Sheriff Jason Mosher said the speed at which this case was finished was due to the cooperation of the two agencies working together. “The stolen truck was a Nevada PD case, and the mail was a county case but we believed there was one suspect. Detectives worked together on the case and both filed for warrants around the same time.” The Sheriff said Ronald W Harp, 41 of Nevada was arrested at his home in Nevada Friday without incident and is being held in the Vernon County Jail on bonds totaling $7,500.00.
