Kansas Historical Society Internship Application Deadline April 15

TOPEKA, KS—The Kansas Historical Society offers paid internships each summer. The internships are full-time, 40 hours per week, for eight weeks, and include a $2,500 stipend. Application deadline for these internships is April 15.


The John Ripley Internship is named for a Topeka businessman well-known not only for his prosperous laundry business, but also for his interest in and knowledge of local history. Undergraduate and graduate students who are studying in a related field and meet at least one of the following requirements are eligible for this internship.


The student is enrolled at Washburn University

The student graduated from a high school in Shawnee County, Kansas

The student is a resident of Shawnee County, Kansas


The Marylouise Meder Internship is for college students interested in a career related to archives, library science, and Kansas history. Dr. Meder had a long career in library science, working in college libraries and later teaching at Emporia State University’s Library and Information Management. She was a life member of the Kansas Historical Foundation. This internship is offered in odd years.
