Kander Awards Technology Grant to Kansas City Public Library

Jefferson City, Mo. — Secretary of State Jason Kander today announced that Kansas City Public Library received a technology grant in the amount of $12,346. The funds will be used to replace eighteen public access computers that are obsolete.

“This grant will enable Kansas City Public Library to continue to provide the best resources and services to the public,” Kander said. “Improving technology and replacing outdated equipment ensures our libraries are able to better serve their communities and Missouri as a whole.”

The secretary of state’s literacy and educational enrichment grants are funded by the Library Services and Technology Act through the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, which is the primary source of federal support for the nation’s 122,000 libraries and 17,500 museums. The Institute’s mission is to create strong libraries and museums that connect people to information and ideas.

In the 2015 fiscal year, the Missouri State Library, a division of Kander’s office, has approved a total of 178 grant applications, distributing $1,111,720 in federal awards to libraries throughout Missouri.
