Theft Suspects Arrested by Bates County Sheriff’s Office

BATES COUNTY, Mo – On 03-25-2015 Bates County Detectives and Sheriff Chad Anderson conducted a felony car stop in Rich Hill. The reason for the felony car stop was the suspect had broken into a rural Bates County residence in the Appleton city area within the previous hour. The suspect was identified as Beverly Baze (DOB 12/30/1973) of Rich Hill.

During the traffic stop, Johnnie Baze (DOB 09-13-1946) who was the front seat passenger became very aggressive toward law enforcement. Johnnie Baze was asked to leave the scene, after a short time he complied. A few minutes later Johnnie Baze returned to the scene, where Bates County Detectives were conducting the felony investigation. Johnnie Baze again became very aggressive with law enforcement. He was arrested for hindering prosecution. At the conclusion of the investigation Beverly Baze was arrested.

Beverly Baze received a Bates County warrant for Burglary in the first degree, a class B felony. The bond was set at $25,000.00 Cash/Surety. Beverly Baze is a person of interest in multiple crimes of the same nature in Bates County.

Johnnie Baze received a Bates County warrant for Hindering prosecution of a felony case, a class D felony. Bond was set at $5000.00 cash/surety.


Johnnie Baze bonded out of the Bates County Jail on the above warrant. At this time, Beverly Baze is still in custody.
