WASHINGTON – Five Missouri health centers, including Pathways Community Behavioral Healthcare & the Regional Health Care Clinic, will receive expanded resources to boost primary health care services in their local communities as part of funding from the Affordable Care Act, U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill announced today.
“The Affordable Care Act is working, and these additional resources for local health services in Clinton and Sedalia are a part of that story,” McCaskill said. “These reforms are currently helping communities large and small— by providing private health insurance to more than 200,000 Missourians while putting in place safeguards that prevent insurance companies from denying coverage because of a preexisting condition or dropping coverage after a person becomes sick.”
The following Missouri health centers were selected:
Douglas County Public Health Services – Ava
Family Health Center of Boone County – Columbia
Northeast Missouri Health Council – Kirksville
Pathways Community Behavioral Healthcare – Clinton
Regional Health Care Clinic – Sedalia
McCaskill, who recently introduced a bipartisan bill to continue improvements to the health care law, has been a vocal supporter of the Affordable Care Act as well as the need to expand Medicaid in Missouri.
