BATES COUNTY, Mo – Monday morning the Butler Police Department, the Bates County Sheriff’s Office and Missouri State Highway Patrol attempted to stop a stolen black Audi A5 with a temporary tag on the vehicle at 52 West and I-49 in Butler. The vehicle refused to stop and fled onto northbound I-49.
The vehicle continued on Northbound I-49 in the left lane with speeds reaching as high as 130 mph. The Missouri State Highway Patrol deployed spike strips and was successful in knocking out the left front tire of the vehicle.
The vehicle was still traveling out of control over 100 mph without a left front tire. The vehicle exited off on Commercial Street in Harrisonville, Missouri and continued on to Mechanic Street before finally wrecking into a light pole in the parking lot of Price Chopper in Harrisonville, Missouri.
Both suspects in the vehicle were taken into custody without incident.
