Jacob Beckley Rotary Award Winner

This year’s member of the year award for Rotary goes to Jacob Beckley who organized the Interact Club within Butler High School. He attended RYLA last year and saw the vision that Interact could be an asset to his school. He presented to the local Butler Rotary Chapter to provide support to make this partnership happen between school and community.

Jacob is the son of Dan and Marci Beckley.

This year, Interact has help add murals to the newly painted high school cafeteria. They worked with Rotary on their annual chili and soup supper which boosted our sales by 100 individuals. At Christmas time, Interact helped us ring the bells at Walmart for Salvation Army and they also adopted a child and provided them many gifts that they would not otherwise had. Recently, they helped sponsor the Bates County Memorial Hospital Foundation concussion program where they raised about $900 from BHS. Jana Rosier is the Rotarian adviser and Robin Colburn and Angie Clarke serve as faculty advisers for Interact. The officer’s this year are: Jacob Beckley-President, Makenna Hannah-Vice President, Morgan Lamb-Secretary, and Mikinzie Wheatley-Treasurer with approximately 20 members.
