Man Hunt : Murder in Clinton

CLINTON MISSOURI: Lt. Sonny Lynch said this morning that at 4:21 a.m., Thursday, May 21, law enforcement officers from the Clinton Police Department were dispatched to 716 East Franklin St. Five residents resided in the home. Three residents were at work and upon arrival home found two of their roommates deceased inside the home.

The victims have been identified as Sandra Kay Sutton, 46, and her son, Zachary Wade Sutton, 17. They had been staying at the residence with Sandra’s family. Lt. Lynch said the two victims appear to be victims of a crime. They apparently died from gunshot wounds.

A suspect in the homicides has been identified. Lt. Lynch said the suspect is James Barton Horn, Jr. He is the former boyfriend of Sandra Sutton and has been charged with kidnapping, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon for keeping Sandra in a wooden box for approximately four months earlier this year in Sedalia. He has remained at large in that case. Horn is a 47-year-old white male approximately 5 feet eleven inches tall and weighs around 175 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. He is known to frequent the Sedalia and Pettis County area. Horn should be considered armed and dangerous.

Clinton Police Chief Kevin Miller has requested activation of the Missouri Rural Major Case Squad and the highly regarded squad will meet at 10 a.m. today at the Henry County Sheriff’s Office. Clinton Police Detectives are working at the crime scene with the assistance of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s DDCC Unit and the Henry County Sheriff’s Department.
