Rich Hill’s annual 4th of July Celebration will kick off on Wednesday, July 2nd with the Baby Contest beginning at 7pm. Registration will begin at 6:30 and this is for newborn babies up to 18 months old all dressed up.
The Talent Contest will begin at 8pm and if you are interested in participation contact Sue Cornelius at 417-395-2150.
A Glow run/5kWalk will begin at 8:30pm. Each participant will receive a red white and blue glow in the dark necklace. There will be a black light area. The route is from Big Mouth/KLM (American Broadband) building to 14th Street going through the east park. There will be a short course and the entire 5k course all in the same route. To finish entire 5k you will have to make a few laps. You can run, walk or dance, just keep your own time. There will be prizes for most glow and patriotic. Thursday’s activities will feature a pie contest beginning at 7pm; you can register your pie beginning at 6:30pm. The World Record Pie Auction begins at 7:30pm. You might remember the famous peanut-butter banana pie that sold for $3,100 in 2012. It was made by Jara Mumma and purchased by her grandfather Jerry Mumma. All proceeds from the pie auction will be used to help defray the costs of 4th of July events in 2015.
A co-ed Sand Volleyball Tournament will be held in the East Park and if you would like to participate contact Luke Tourtillot at 660-464-0090. Thursday festivities will conclude with Awakened Silence Band taking the stage at 9pm.
