Bates County Sheriff Arrests Two Suspects

BATES COUNTY, Mo – On 03-11-2015 Bates County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted the Missouri Department of Family Services. The Bates County Deputies and DFS went a residence located just outside of the Amsterdam area to check it for unsanitary conditions. During the investigation it was determined that three juveniles living in the residence were in unsafe living conditions. It was also determined the adults living in the residence where using illegal narcotics in front of the juveniles, and in some case providing marijuana to the juveniles.


Based on the above information the suspects John H Fairbairn, a white male, DOB 11-18-1987, of Amsterdam and a White female, Valerie Lezer, DOB 12-20-1982, were arrested and charged with Possession of up to 35 grams of marijuana a class A misdemeanor, and three counts of Endangering The Welfare of a Child. The suspects are currently incarcerated at the Bates County Jail on a $35,000.00 cash or surety Bond.
