MISSOURI : Ceremony set for June 6th, Tan-Tar-A Resort, Lake of the Ozarks

Jefferson City, Missouri, May 5, 2015 – The Missouri Broadcasters Association is proud to announce its 2015 Hall of Fame Inductees. Allan Cohen, Clyde Lear and Fred White will be honored at an Induction Ceremony on Saturday, June 6th, at Tan-Tar-A Resort on the Lake of the Ozarks.

When Allan Cohen became General Manager of KMOX-TV (now KMOV-TV) in St. Louis in 1980, he was the youngest GM ever appointed to any CBS owned and operated station. In his 32 years as GM, Cohen led KMOV-TV to media prominence and became an indispensable part of the St. Louis community by tirelessly supporting countless local institutions and charities.

Clyde Lear founded the Missouri Network in 1972. Under Lear’s leadership, this small farm network eventually grew into Learfield Communications, Inc., a diverse media enterprise headquartered in Jefferson City. Today, Learfield Communications has over 800 employees and provides sports, news and informational programming to over 1,700 radio stations across the country.

Fred White is best known for the 25 years he teamed with Denny Matthews as the Kansas City Royals primary broadcast team. He also gained notoriety for his outstanding broadcast work on basketball and football for CBS, ESPN, NBC, TBS and Raycom Sports. Upon leaving the Royals broadcast booth in 1988, White headed up the Royals radio network, supervised the Royals Alumni group and was the Director of Royals Broadcast Services until his death in 2013.

Cohen and Lear, and Fred White’s wife, Barbara and family will accept the Hall of Fame awards at the induction ceremony as part of the Missouri Broadcasters Association annual convention. The Missouri Broadcasters Hall of Fame was started in 2011. “Each of our Hall of Fame inductees have contributed greatly to the broadcasting industry and it is our honor to pay tribute to their lives and celebrate the impact they have had in our state,” said Mark Gordon, President and CEO of the Missouri Broadcasters Association. “I am hopeful that their stories inspire those just starting their careers in the broadcasting field.”
