BATES COUNTY, Mo – Fm92 spoke with the Bates County Prosecuting Attorney’s office on Wednesday, August 27th for an update on the status of the case against 26-year old Wesley Hays of Pleasanton Kansas. Mr. Hays was involved in the fatal accident that killed Larry Berry, Bates County Southern Commissioner on July 3rd.
Preliminary reports have been received but Hugh Jenkins, Bates County Prosecuting Attorney, is waiting for the final reports. It is always a process to make sure all information is verified and correct. When all of the information needed has been submitted then the case against Mr. Hays will proceed.
The original charges made by the Missouri State Highway Patrol on July 3rd were:
1. DWI – Alcohol – Persistent Offender
2. Involuntary Manslaughter
3. Possession of Marijuana
4. Failure to drive on the right half of the roadway.
