BATES COUNTY, Mo – You might be the one to help save someone’s life. It only takes about 5 minutes of your time to swab your mouth with 4 q-tips, not a needle, not a surgical procedure; just opening up your mouth that might save a life.
Rebecca Hertzog is in need of a bone marrow transplant and at this time is still searching for her Miracle Match. Rebecca is the daughter Jim and Kathy Hertzog who own the Mo-Kan Livestock Market in Passaic.
Rebecca is currently undergoing chemotherapy at the KU Med Center for acute myeloid leukemia after being in remission for 4½ years.
On Sunday, August 17th there will be a marrow donor registry drive held from 1 – 4pm at the Mo-Kan Livestock Market in Passaic (5 miles North of Butler). Only those people between the ages of 18 and 44 are eligible.
There is also an on-line drive available if you aren’t able to at attend on August 17th. Just go to www.bethematchfoundation.org/goto/bewithbecca and put in the promo code bewithbecca and they will send you a kit in the mail. If you aren’t able to join the registry, you can donate to help defray the $100 cost for the kits.
Now is the time for our community to step up and help a young lady in need. Be a part of the marrow donor registry drive on Sunday, August 17th from 1 – 4pm, tomorrow it might be your child.
