SEDALIA, Mo – This year’s Missouri State Fair will offer a plethora of rural lifestyle exhibits, which will feature something for everyone from shopping to how-to advice from agriculture experts, and the experience is included in the price of gate admission. Many of the exhibits will be showcased in the comfort of air-conditioned buildings between the hours of 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 7-16, and until 6 p.m. on Aug. 17.
“The State Fair is the largest agricultural event in Missouri,” Missouri State Fair Director Mark Wolfe said. “Each year, Missourians have an opportunity to gather at the Fairgrounds to ask questions of experts in a variety of agricultural industry fields, and see the latest equipment and products on display.”
The Machinery Grounds at the Missouri State Fair will showcase a variety of agriculture-related products, representing companies from each corner of the State. This year the machinery area will feature a new wind turbine exhibit and Fairgoers will have the opportunity to watch it in action, as it powers the Missouri Valley Renewable Energy’s booth.
The Agriculture Building is one of the 15 buildings on the Fairgrounds that will host a variety of exhibits and vendor booths. The experts in this building will largely comprise agriculture industry representatives, and will be offering advice on topics ranging from agronomy to beekeeping. These experts will be available to share tips and information with hobbyists and business owners alike.
A new vendor to the Agriculture Building this year will be Berry Nutty Farms of Grandview, which will provide consumers with all natural products including jams, butters and dips. The AgriMissouri Farmers’ Market will also be located in the building and will feature fresh produce and non-food products direct from Missouri farmers. AgriMissouri is an outreach program through the Missouri Department of Agriculture (MDA) that promotes Missouri-grown and Missouri-made items, representing food and non-food products, retailers, farmers’ markets, agritourism and agricultural experience destinations. Fairgoers will be able to speak to these MDA experts while at the Fair, or can visit www.agrimissouri.com for more information.
Those with questions about secondary agriculture education can visit with representatives in the Agriculture Building from Missouri State University, Missouri Valley College and Lincoln University. A returning vendor to the building will be the Livestock & Farm Protection Agency, which partners with Sheriffs’ departments and the Missouri Highway Patrol on agriculture-related crimes in rural communities across the State. This agency will be available to discuss problems and solutions about rural crime.
For more information about other vendors and exhibits that will be included in the rural lifestyle showcase, visit the vendor list, judging schedule and demonstration list available at the Fair’s website and follow the Fair on Facebook and Twitter, or call 1-800-422-FAIR (3247). The 112th Missouri State Fair, themed “Harvest the Fun!,” will be held Aug. 7-17 in Sedalia.
