Bates County Sheriff's New Release

On Saturday, February 14th, the Bates County Sheriff’s Office received a request for assistance from the Linn County Kansas Dispatch.  Dispatch advised that they had a Lacygne Police Officer in pursuit of a vehicle that was about to enter into Bates County.  As the pursuit entered the county on J Highway, Bates County Deputies joined the pursuit.  The pursuit only lasted a few minutes in Bates County before the car stopped in a driveway on High Street in Amsterdam.

The suspect was taken into custody by the Lacygne Police Officer.  The Lacygne Officer stated that during the pursuit the suspect was seen throwing items out the window.  The Deputies could see a cell phone and several plastic bag believed to contain methamphetamine in the front seat while walking around the car.  The bags were recovered by the Deputies and field tested for methamphetamines.  The vehicle was towed from the scene.

The suspect, identified at Dewayne E Boehm, 1/12/61, of Lynn Valley Kansas was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Bates County for possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute.  Bond was $25,000.00

Additional charges for possession of a controlled substance from the pursuit are expected to be filed by the prosecutor.  Charges for resisting arrest and fleeing are expected to be filed in Kansas.
