Approximately 1 hour later Butler Police were dispatched to a local business that had received a similar letter. Officers were able to get license plate information after receiving the second letter. Although no threats were made the contents of the letters raised some concerns.
Butler Police contacted the Kansas City Police Department and provided the information on the vehicle and requested that KCPD attempt to make contact with the individual.
After talking with school officials and informing them of the second letter the decision was made to go to a phase I lockdown.
Later in the afternoon Butler Police were contacted by the author of the letters. After speaking to the subject for an extended period of time it was determined that there currently was no threat.
