University of Missouri Extension is hosting a crop management meeting March 11 at 1:30 p.m. at the American Legion Hall at 6th & Walnut, Rich Hill.
A diverse group of topics will be covered by University of Missouri Extension specialists. Dr. Bill Wiebold, MU State Soybean Specialist, will cover Unmanned Aerial Systems in Missouri Crop Agriculture, covering the advantages and challenges of using “drones” to help with crop management decisions.
Tim Reinbott, Superintendent Bradford Research Center, will discuss Adding Cover Crops to Corn/Soybean Rotations. There are lots of cover crop presentations but they all focus on the cover crop and forget the money crops in a rotation.
Tim will discuss how to manage cover crops while reducing the impact on yields of corn and soybeans. Pat Miller, Extension Agronomy Specialist, will handle Fungicide and Insecticide Seed Treatments. She will compare the various treatments and their benefits.
Managing 100 Bushel per Acre Wheat will be presented by Mark Jenner, Extension Ag Business Specialist. Higher wheat yields and profits are within our reach, but take some finesse to achieve.
Mark discusses the ins and outs of succeeding at both. There is $20 fee. Please register for the class by March 11 by calling 660-679-4167.
