VERNON COUNTY, MO The identities of two people killed in a double homicide in rural Vernon County have been released. According to a press release from the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office Herman E Ellison, 76, and Rosie E Ellison 77, of rural Vernon County were found dead in their home after deputies responded to a 911 call late Friday evening. According to the Sheriff’s Office both Herman and Rosie are believed to have been shot and killed inside their home not far from the Cedar County line.
Investigators say Vernon County Sheriff Mosher requested the Southwest Missouri Major Case Squad be activated and investigators from the Nevada Police Department, El Dorado Police Department, Bates County Sheriff’s Office, Butler Police Department, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to assist the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation. Investigators worked throughout the night following up on leads and conducting interviews. According to the press release, Logan E Ellison, 17 the grandson of Herman and Rosie Ellison, was arrested by the Sheriff’s Office during the course of the investigation. A warrant for his arrest was issued late Saturday evening charging Logan with two counts of first degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action, and one count of 1st degree robbery. Logan is being held in the Vernon County Jail on a 2 million dollar cash only bond.
Sheriff Mosher said all other information is not being released out of respect for the family. “We are working with the family members in their time of mourning and asks that the public keep them in their prayers and respect their privacy.”
