How to Cope with Diabetes Class

University of Missouri Extension will offer a FREE six-week class for people with diabetes. This weekly class beginning Wednesday November 5-December 17 (skipping Nov 26 for Thanksgiving) at 1:00pm to 3:30 pm will show people with diabetes how to cope and live better with their chronic disease. The class will be held at the Ellet Memorial Hospital Conference Room.


The course is co-taught by Saralee Jamieson and Tammy Roberts, University of Missouri Extension Specialists. This diabetes self-management course will teach people how to deal with problems such as pain, fluctuating blood sugar levels, and fatigue.


Other topics include: Techniques to deal with frustration and isolation, Safe exercise to maintain and improve strength, flexibility, and endurance, Medications, Communicating with health care professionals, family, and friends, Healthy eating, Problem solving skills, Foot care and Action planning.


Registration for the class is due by Monday, November 3, or for more information, call the St. Clair County Extension Office at 417-646-2419.
