Teenage Grandson is charged with Murdering Grandparents

NEVADA, Mo – A teenager from Vernon County is in jail for the murders of his grandparents. Logan Ellison, 17, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action, and one count of first-degree robbery.

Sheriff’s deputies found Herman Ellison, 76, and Rosie Ellison 77, dead in their rural home after getting a 9-1-1 call about 10 p.m. Friday. Investigators believe both of them were shot and killed inside their home on Quantrill Road in western Vernon County, not far from the Cedar County line.

The sheriff’s department immediately contacted the Southwest Missouri Major Case Squad to help investigate. When investigators arrived at the house, they immediately knew they were dealing with a double homicide investigation. They interviewed witnesses and neighbors all through the night and into Saturday morning.

Around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, officers arrested Logan Ellison, a student at El Dorado Springs High School.

The sheriff did not release any more details about the possible motive or when the murders may have occurred.

A judge set Logan Ellison’s bond at $2 million, cash only.
