On Friday, the Butler Bears Track team traveled to Holden for their annual meet. This was a great meet for competition and our kids really stepped up. Sherwood and Butler were the only Class 2 schools at this track meet. The rest were Class 3 schools with about 4 Class 4 schools. I am really pleased at the way our kids took the competition and did what they do best and that is …….just run. If we do what we are good at then the rest will shape up. The Butler Boys placed 6th place overall out of 12 teams.
Here are the top 8 finishers in each event to score their team points:
200m Dash: Tanner Diehl – 2nd place; Dylan Morris – 5th place
400m Dash: Tanner Diehl – 4th place
300m Hurdles: Devan Loveall – 1st place with a time of 41.93; Brett Behringer – 7th place
4×100 Relay: Geoffrey Algiere – 7th place
Dylan Morris
Ben Holt
Devan Loveall
4×200 Relay: Devan Loveall – 2nd place
Dylan Morris
Tanner Diehl
Austin Castaneda
4×400 Relay: Devan Loveall – 8th place
Ethan Gardner
Geoffrey Algiere
Tanner Diehl
High Jump: Ethan Gardner – 8th place
Pole Vault: Ethan Gardner – 1st place and tying the school record with 12’6″
Shot Put: Ben Holt – 6th place
We had an injury occur in the middle of the meet and the kids responded well to filling in those gaps and doing the best they can. Our next meet is May 4 at Barstow. This is our Conference meet so give these kids a big good luck if you see them.
