BATES COUNTY, Mo – The Bates County Food Pantry would like to thank everyone who participated in the Benefit Auction that took place on Saturday, September 6th during Huckster Day festivities. Thanks to the generosity of those bidding on the 37 items, a total of over $7,000 will be collected and used at the Bates County Food Pantry.
The Bates County Food Pantry and Thrift Store distributed over 350 tons of food last year alone in Bates County and the assistance of nearly 12,000 hours of volunteer labor made this possible.
The Harvester’s Program accounts for about 90% of the food distributed, but the Pantry also buys thousands of dollars of food locally in Bates County from supermarkets who discount their purchases which in turn allows the Pantry to make a greater impact within the county.
The Pantry Thrift Store accepts thousands of items annually from donors and then cleans, prices and resells these items which provide additional revenue for the Food Pantry operation.
Thanks again to the people who took the time to come and bid on items, because of your generosity the Food Pantry will be able to help put food on the table for many Bates County residents that are struggling to do so.
Awesome Job
