Harrisonville Airport Open House

CASS COUNTY, Mo – Harrisonville residents are invited to take an informal, behind-the-scenes look at Lawrence Smith Memorial Airport during a free Open House event to be held on Saturday, Sept. 27 from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m.

“We hope everyone will join us for this fun, casual day at the airport,” Airport Manager James Green said. “Harrisonville is fortunate to have an airport with all the capabilities we offer, and we’re excited to welcome everyone.”

The open house will feature static displays of vintage and modern aircraft. Visitors will also have the opportunity to view the Life Flight helicopter, which is based at Lawrence Smith Memorial Airport, and visit with the pilot and crew. Free airplane rides will also be provided from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m, weather permitting.

Members of the Harrisonville Rotary Club will also be on hand, serving free pancake breakfasts from 7 until 10 a.m. The group will be accepting donations for Polio Plus, a Rotary charity that provides polio vaccines at no cost in countries where the disease is still an active threat.

Lawrence Smith Memorial Airport is located just off I-49 at the Hwy. 7 exit in Harrisonville. Both admission and parking for the event are free.
