Harrisonville Unwanted Meds Sept 27th

Prescription Drug Take-Back Event Saturday, Sept. 27

Outdated or Unwanted Meds Will Be Accepted for Proper Disposal

The Harrisonville Police Department, Harrisonville NETT and the Harrisonville CVS Pharmacy are encouraging all residents to take a few minutes to clean out their medicine cabinets and turn in expired, unwanted or unnecessary prescription drugs as well as over-the-counter medications, during National Prescription Drug Take-Back collection on Saturday, Sept. 27.

Volunteers from the police department and Harrisonville NETT will be at the local CVS Pharmacy, 300 S. Commercial Street, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. to accept the products, which will then be safely disposed of or destroyed. The service is free and anonymous.

Veterinary drugs will also be accepted.

Harrisonville Police Chief John Hofer stated, “We want to work with the public to keep prescription drugs out of the hands of our youth.” Speaking from an environmental standpoint, he added, “Putting unwanted medications in the trash or flushing them down the drain is not proper disposal.”

Saturday’s event is being held in conjunction with National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, sponsored twice each year by the U. S. Drug Enforcement Administration. For more information, visit the DEA website at www.dea.gov
