BATES COUNTY, Mo – Many of us can recall where we were when we heard and saw the horrific events that took place at the New York World Trade Centers, at the Pentagon in Washington DC, and in a Pennsylvania field that morning of September 11th and the shock that followed as those scenes played over and over in our mind.
On September 11th, the Adrian Fire Department will be conducting a remembrance ceremony for those who lost their lives during those brutal attacks on September 11, 2001, causing the deaths of 2,977 people, and the 411 emergency services personnel that lost their lives attempting to fight fires and rescue people.
During this solemn ceremony Veterans, and the brave men and women who are defending our country today will be recognized, as well as remembering those that have lost their lives in the name of freedom.
Freedom is not just a word to those that have served and are serving; it’s a way of life as they fight for your right to live free and with hope for the future.
Lineup for those participating in the procession is 5:30 with a 5:45pm start at 1st and Clark in Adrian. The procession will be on the Business District of Main Street by 6pm.
After the silent procession down Main Street, a program will follow at the Optimist Building and should start between 6:45 and 7pm.
You are invited to attend this silent procession down Main Street in Adrian as a community comes together to honor those brave people who lost their lives on September 11th and to recognize that men and women are still losing their lives as they protect our freedom.
