BATES COUNTY, Mo – On September 30, 2014 the Bates County Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to a domestic assault occurring at 2nd and Monroe in Amoret, Missouri.
On arrival the deputy observed two subjects fighting in the house. As the Deputy approached the house the male subject fled the room to a different part of the house. An initial search of the residence did not reveal the suspect identified as Carl “Ben” Bordelon. As the Deputies were tending to the victim, who was struck in the face and choked with an extension cord, they could hear movement in the rear part of the house. The Deputies called for a K9 to help clear the house again. As the Deputies surrounded the house awaiting the arrival of the K9 the suspect came to the back door and Deputies gave him commands to get on the ground. The suspect then retreated back into the house.
The K9 was deployed into the house to locate the suspect. During the search it was determined that Bordelon was possibly armed with a large knife that was originally stuck in the back door but was missing when the Deputies entered the house with the K9.
Bordelon was located in the ceiling above the kitchen cabinets. He was given multiple commands to exit his hiding spot. Bordelon was noncompliant and was assisted in exiting the ceiling area. As Bordelon was pulled from the ceiling the knife fell to the kitchen floor. During the struggle in the house Bordelon was bit by the K9 and Tasered by the Sheriff. Once secured in handcuffs Bordelon was taken to the patrol car where he continued to fight with the deputies as they put him in the car. Multiple Deputies were assaulted during the arrest. One of those Deputies were treated and released by the Bates County Memorial Hospital.
On October 1, 2014, Bordelon was charged with one count of Domestic Assault in the Second Degree a Class C Felony, one count of Assault in the Second Degree a Class C Felony, one count of Resisting Arrest a Class D Felony, and four counts of Assault on Law Enforcement all Class C Felonies. He is currently being held in the Bates County Jail on a $50,000 cash only bond.
