BATES COUNTY, Mo – On September 30th, The Bates County Sheriff’s Office received information about a 4 wheeler being stripped and possibly stolen just south of Rich Hill. Initially the Deputy was unable to locate the 4 wheeler.
On October 1st the Sheriff’s Office returned to the area and located the 4 wheeler. The 4 wheeler, a 2005, 400 Suzuki 4×4 was partially stripped. The Suzuki was determined to be the 4 wheeler stolen from a field just off 7 bridges road, east of Rich Hill. The Suzuki was identified and returned to the owner. Several persons of interest have been identified in the case and Detectives are following up on it.
In the past several weeks the Bates County Sheriff’s Office has seen an increase in thefts in the rural area of Rich Hill.
On September 19th, a can of gasoline was taken from a residence. The theft occurred at 6648 SE Market Street in Papinsville Mo 64780.
On September 22nd, a checkbook was stolen from a vehicle while it was parked in a garage. The theft occurred at 188 SE CR9006, Rich Hill Mo 64779.
On September 22nd,, an air compressor and air hose was taken from the bed of truck parked in front of a garage. There were also two guns taken in the theft, an HR .22 caliber six shot pistol and a Mossburg 535 12 gauge Shotgun. The theft occurred at 8054 SE CR4265, Rich Hill Mo 64779.
