On 5/11/14, the Sheriff’s Office received a call from a resident at F Hwy and 6001 in reference to a burglary that had just occurred. Deputies arrived and made contact with the victim. The victim stated that they had left the residence for a few minutes and returned to find a window on the back of the house broken. They stated that they did a quick inventory of the house and found that there was a gun missing. The victim stated that the only person on the property at the time was a friend that they had been helping by allowing him to stay in a camper on the property.
They called after they attempted to confront the subject and he locked himself in the camper. They identified the suspect as Jayme V. Sluder, 3/22/1986. The Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team arrived and attempted to make contact with Sluder through a loud speaker in an attempt to get him to come out of the camper. Deputies received consent to search the camper and found the stolen gun from the home burglary.
Sluder was transported to the Bates County Sheriff’s Office and was charged with Burglary in the 2nd degree, Theft of property of more than $500. Bond was set at $20,000 cash or surety.
