Artifact Identification Day at Mine Creek Civil War Battlefield State Historic Site

PLEASANTON, KS—The rusty piece of metal in the garage and the faded chunk of carved wood in the basement have been setting in the same spot for years, but nobody can identify these items or their purpose. To assist with the identification of mystery items, Mine Creek Civil War Battlefield State Historic Site will host What Is It? 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 9.

The public is welcome to bring a single artifact or a collection, from the Civil War era, the American frontier, or of American Indian design. Onsite experts will date and identify the origins of artifacts. No appraisals will be made. Admission to event is free. Admission to museum and walking tour is $5 adults, $1 students. Every visitor who brings an artifact will receive $1 off admission. Kansas Historical Foundation members and children five and younger admitted free.
