COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Missouri FFA Association recognized Frank Yoakum of the Cass Career Center FFA Chapter as the Area 7 Star in Placement at the 87th Missouri State FFA Convention. His parents are Glen and Lisa Yoakum of Raymore, Mo. His advisors are Jason Dieckhoff and Clint Johnson.
Area Stars in Placement are selected based upon outstanding achievement in work experience in an agriculture business as a part of a student’s supervised agricultural experience program (SAE) and active participation in FFA. Area 7 includes 26 chapters in the Central District.
MFA Inc., Columbia, Mo., sponsors the 16 area Star in Placement awards and the State Star in Placement Award.
Yoakum’s SAE program began with his employment at Peculiar Farm Supply. His duties include mixing feed, operating the forklift, managing inventory and helping customers load feed. Yoakum also works for Sycamore Hill Ranch and has worked for G-B Construction.
Yoakum has participated at the state level in the meats evaluation, forestry, and grasslands career development events. Yoakum also has competed at the state level in FFA trapshooting competitions and has attended Washington Leadership Conference and state and national conventions.
In addition to the FFA, Yoakum has been involved in high school trapshooting and cross country. Yoakum is also involved with Cass County Junior Livestock Association, Farm Bureau and Young Farmers and Ranchers.
After he receives his associate degree, Yoakum plans to study agriculture at a four- year college.
The Missouri FFA has 25,829 members representing 338 chapters. The national organization has more than 610,000 members representing 7,665 local chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
