Jefferson City, Mo. — Secretary of State Jason Kander announced that St. Clair County Library received a technology grant in the amount of $10,361. The funds will be used to replace five desktop computers, laptop equipment and a printer.
“This grant will allow St. Clair County Library to continue to provide Missourians with outstanding resources,” Kander said. “These resources combined with the hard work and dedication of St. Clair County Library’s staff help make Missouri libraries among the best in the nation.”
The secretary of state’s technology grants are funded by the Library Services and Technology Act through the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, which is the primary source of federal support for the nation’s 122,000 libraries and 17,500 museums. The Institute’s mission is to create strong libraries and museums that connect people to information and ideas.
In the 2015 fiscal year, the Missouri State Library, a division of Kander’s office, has approved a total of 24 grant applications, distributing $217,100 in federal awards to libraries throughout Missouri.
