from Rep. Patricia Pike
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo – “We completed the bill’s Public Safety Committee Hearing Monday. Those testifying with me included representatives from the MO Poison Control Center, narcotics and law enforcement, pediatrics and medical profession, alcohol rehabilitation center, MOACT, PTA and MSTA. There was no opposition testimony.
Currently seven of the eight states that surround MO have enacted Powdered Alcohol legislation. Five of our bordering states have legislation similar to MO, which bans product release in their state anticipated for this summer. Across the US, many more states are looking at how the products will be regulated.
Missouri already has serious underage alcohol use issues. To bring alcohol powder, crystals, and capsules into the mix will impact youth, families, schools, law enforcement, emergency services, and health professionals in our state.”
